Hi. I’m Andrea.
I use the pronouns She/her.
Having been drawn to the art of birth in my youth, it was no surprise that this age old tradition of service called to me just before journeying into motherhood myself. After attending the births of some close friends, I went on to pursue my training with DONA in January 2016 and have been actively involved with the birth community proudly serving families since. North Lake Tahoe has been my home for 20 years and counting, and I am honored to live and thrive in this wonderful community. Playing in the mountains and adventuring lends well to the journeys that birth and parenthood unveil.
Birth is unique; a wildly beautiful experience unlike any other and I am committed to bringing an open mind, a full heart, and positive energy to support you on your way.
“In addition to her total support and attentiveness, Andrea brings a wealth of personal and professional experience into her practice as a doula. We were so impressed every step of the way – before, during, and after the birth of our beautiful daughter. Andrea’s intelligence surrounding the birthing process is as comprehensive as it gets. On a professional level, she is well informed and up to date with current research, offering a multitude of information that we found very helpful. On a personal level, Andrea is a highly intuitive individual with age old wisdom and a knack for just getting things right. The combination of these qualities is what makes her special. We feel blessed to have had Andrea with us along this awesome ride and couldn’t imagine doing it differently.” ~Heather & Larry
My path to birthwork…….
Some people like to see the certs and continued education stuff, so it’s here listed below. Supporting birth is a calling and so much is learned in each sacred ceremony of your individual births, from the adventures of daily life and family, from the hard experiences of loss, and all that challenges us to grow and strengthen in the struggles.
Here are some courses I’ve taken to support my life learning of this art:
pre 2015: Called to the art of birth, but confused by this desire as I was busy adventuring. I was invited to attend the birth of a friend and am forever grateful.
2015 April: birth of our divine love in our home supported by a midwife, doula, husband and sweet canine
2016 January: DONA DOULA training in Reno, NV with Janine Maitre of Sierra Childbirth Institute. It’s normal to pump breastmilk in class, right?!
2018 January: ecstatic birth of our divine light in our home supported by a midwife, doula, husband, 2.5 year old daughter, and sweet canine
2020 January-July: GentleBirth Childbirth Education Certification. A passion to offer an alternative childbirth class that was comprehensive and focused on physiology, mindset and self-hypnosis as a deep relaxation technique fueled this move. Your positive birth begins here.
2022 May: Founded the Birth Class Retreat. The first of many incredible weekend retreats focused on Childbirth Preparation with mindfulness and amazing activities to cultivate connection with self, each other, pregnancy, and the wildness of birth while of course, learning the stages of labor and nuts and bolts so birthers and partners felt more confident for a positive birth experience.
2023 January: Attended Spinning Babies Workshop: learning techniques for optimal fetal rotation to support smoother birth.
2024 June: Birthing from Within Heart of Mentoring Course: Attended with a desire to lead parents in activities and conversations that allow for a compassionate, heart-centered approach to the birthing experience.
2024 July- December: Heart and Hands Beginning and Advanced Midwifery Intensive with Elizabeth Davis. The spiritual calling of midwifery had gotten so loud it was irresistible. Curiosity leads.
2025 January: Enrolled in the National Midwifery Institute and started the journey as a student midwife, leaning in to the calling and heading back to school while also apprenticing under local midwives in the area to support birth out of hospital settings.
